With the objectives of contribution to enhancing quality of the local workforce in oil and gas industry of Vietnam, Talisman Vietnam Limited (TVL) is pleased to sponsor two full postgraduate scholarships for fall enrolment of academic year 2011 for Vietnamese professionals wishing to undertake a Master’s degree in petroleum related fields at the University of Alberta (U of A), Canada.
The scholarships aim to provide opportunities for postgraduate study at the U of A for young professionals in early or mid-career, who demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers in Vietnam.
Two scholarships are available for study for the following maximum two-year full-time postgraduate Master’s programs in the below fields.
MSc. in Integrated Petroleum Geosciences
MSc. in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (focus on Geology)
MSc. in Physics (focus on Geophysics)
MSc./MEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering (specialization in Petroleum Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering)
MSc./MEng in Chemical and Materials Engineering
MSc./MEng in Mechanical Engineering
MBA, with specialization in Natural Resources, Energy and Environment
Each scholarship provides tuition fee at the U of A, a stipend to cover living costs (for one person only) for maximum two years and return air travel to Vietnam (the return flight must be taken within three weeks of completion of the program of study).
Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must:
display intellectual ability and leadership potential;
meet minimum English language standards – IELTS band score 6.5 (with not less than 5.0 in any skill) or paper based TOEFL minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or a total score of 88 with a score of at least 20 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based).
If you apply for MBA degree, in addition to the English Language skills evidence above, you need to provide either GMAT score minimum 600 (paper-based) or 100 (internet-based) with at least 20 on each of the individual skill area or GRE 1100 total (verbal 450 and quantitative 650)
and will normally be expected to:
have a good academic record. Only candidates with an “excellent” (gioi or xuat sac – 8.0+) or “good” (kha – 7.5+) first degree will be considered.
not already have received or be currently receiving financial benefit from a previous Government-Funded Scholarship;
not already had the chance of studying in Canada or another developed country;
not already been awarded a university doctorate from another academic institution;
Industry experience would be a plus

Eligibility
Please make sure you are eligible to apply and satisfy the following:
Basic application requirements for Master Programs in Science and Engineering:
A four-year Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent, and a GPA of 3.00 in the subject of the major field.
Basic application requirements for Ph.D. Programs:
An M.S. degree in engineering or science (after a four-year B.S. degree) from an institution whose graduate programs are equivalent to those of KFUPM, with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
A minimum GPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent in both B.S. and M.S. degrees.
Basic application requirements for M.B.A. and Executive M.B.A.:
A four-year Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution.
A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent.
At least one course in college level calculus which covers both differentiation and integration.
A working knowledge of computers as evidenced by at least one course in that area (e.g. data processing, programming, information systems, etc.)
At least one-year of full-time work experience. This requirement may be waived for graduate assistants, research assistants, and applicants with exceptional academic records.

The Anne van den Ban Scholarship Fund, previously known as the `Stichting Redelijk Studeren` (Sharing Responsibility for Students), is named after Dr. Ir. Anne van den Ban, former Professor of `Voorlichtingskunde` (Rural Extension) at Wageningen University. The fund was founded in 1992 by two Wageningen alumni.

The scholarship fund enables promising students from developing countries and from countries in Middle and Eastern Europe to study at Wageningen University. As a result, it contributes to the education of competent and motivated local experts, who can then play a leading role in solving the structural problems of their country in agricultural production, rural development and the environment.

Every year, dozens of students apply to the fund. Your contribution can enable even more students to begin or complete a study at Wageningen University.

Eligibility:

Applicant must already be accepted for their chosen study at Wageningen University.

MSc Clinical Trials by Distance Learning Scholarship, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK

Applications are open for one scholarship to study the Distance Learning MSc Clinical Trials (CT) course commencing October 2011. This scholarship is offered by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).

Funding
The scholarship covers full tuition fees to study the Distance Learning MSc Clinical Trials course, and a contribution towards local examination centre fees.

Criteria for the scholarship
This MSc Clinical Trials scholarship is available only to a student who is a national of, and resident within, a Low Income country as indicated on here.

Applicants will be assessed on the following criteria:

the academic merit of the applicant (at least a 2:1 or equivalent first Honours undergraduate degree)
at least two years’ proven work experience in the Clinical Trials field
how the skills and qualification obtained from the MSc Clinical Trials would benefit both the applicant and their institution, with respect to current and/or future employment; and
impact on the development of the applicant’s home country.
The successful applicant will be required to:

complete a minimum number of modules each year of the course
give regular feedback to the School, and
co-operate with any programme evaluations for the duration of their scholarship and for a period of up to five years after completion of the course.
